Howdy Pard’s………..a little time has gone by and hav’n taken time to reflect, I’ve finally put pen to paper to speak a bit bout “Shoot Out At The Ridge 2010”.  There is no way to sum all the good stuff up in this short letter but I will try my best.  Very late in fall of 2009, Rusty Wood, Gifford Gringo, Dallas Dancer and Georgia Bank and myself met round a warm burnin fire and talked bout long trails, brand’n cattle and long nights sleep’n out in the rain while push’n another run into Douglas Ranch……….

Well not exactly.  We all met at Rusty’s place, turned up the gas fireplace, had Chinese food and talked about the 2010 main match.  The idea was already hatched to use the theme of the Rail Road and Rusty Wood was already busy writing scenarios in his head.  Later If you recall, we met at the rod and gun club house in early of 2010 and had a planning meeting where I’d say, 75% of our shooters attended and all raised their hands volunteering for the work needed to prepare and host Shoot Out at The Ridge 2010.

With everyone busy trying to meet the deadline, May came upon us quickly and ready of not, shooters from all over the Pacific Northwest arrived.  Our Friday, made up of trading tables, registrations, side matches and an evening campfire, went very smoothly.  Saturday started out with the welcoming our guests and then on to the safety meeting.  Throughout the day, our shooters moved smoothly through 5 challenging stages, decorated with plenty of terrific props and eye candy.  Saturday evening, meeting in the saloon, we were served up an extraordinary meal, recognized our side match winners and shut the evening down with another campfire.

Sunday started out with our safety meeting and then off we went to shoot another 5 challenging yet fun and enjoyable stages.  Sunday ended with yet another great dinner, an incredible prize table and lots of socializing.  I will not go into match winners, stage winners, side match winners etc.  Rusty Wood has done a great job posting all the scores and I’m certain we’ve all looked them over a few times already.

The winners I do want to mention are all you folks that put in so much time and effort to make this event a great shoot.  This being my first opportunity to act as match director, gave me a very up close and personal view of all the hard work so many of you did. I want to say, with all sincerity, there is no way this event goes off without you folks!  So you folks are the real winners!  For weeks after the event, we received emails of thanks and appreciation.  Our guests were thankful with many saying, the Red Mountain Renegades did it again, another year where they pulled out all the stops, another year where they have taken it to another level…….. again.  Everything from the stage scenarios, newly constructed props, shooter trophies and hospitality, drew notes of appreciation and wow.  You should all be very proud of your efforts and achievements.  Congratulations and thank you.  You all contributed to a safe and  successful, 10th anniversary, Shoot Out At The Ridge.

Before closing, I would be remiss if I did not mention our corporate partners.  These are the folks that donate from their store shelve, prizes for our prize table.  With that in mind, one way we can thank them, is by frequenting their places of business, and supporting them with our hard earned dollars.  Special thanks goes out to;  Caldwell Industries, The Bullet Barn, Bushwhacker Western Wear, Hubs Sports, Belle’s Sports, Stampede Tack, Fraser Valley Building Supplies and Tack, and all you folks who donated incredible gifts to the prize table.  For a year in which we wanted to size down the prize table, every single shooter received a prize.

Again, thank you for all your work.  Thank you for all your dedication and most of all thank you for allowing Georgia Bank and myself to be part of this wonderful group of folks called, “The Red Mountain Renegades”
